The Curse Shall Haunt Them…

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

When the Pharaoh of Egypt in Prophet Moses’ time, decided to run after Prophet Moses (Peace Be upon Him) and the faithful believers, he did not know what was awaiting him at sea. Moses, on the other hand, sought refuge in the sea; an act deemed crazy for an ordinary person. The sea was the only means ahead of him and the believers who had no choice but to flee and take the chance. With the Lord above watching over them, Moses never questioned or doubted that Allah will guide and take care of them. With his resolute faith in Allah, Moses was fully assured when he took that step saying to his fellow brothers: “By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!” Surely, his Lord will not let him down. After all, He had saved him in numerous situations before. The miracle happens and the sea is divided into huge masses of mountains for Moses and the Believers to pass through.

Hundreds of years later, another sea has a new story to tell. The Mediterranean has turned into a course for freedom. It has become a familiar route that people from all over the world are willing to take for the sake of Gaza. Peace activists from over 30 nationalities boarded the ships and sailed the sea to break the inhuman siege imposed on Gaza for over three years. They prepared themselves for different scenarios which they might encounter, but they never expected such deadly and inhuman use of force. They will not get anywhere close to the so-called Israeli water simply because their destination is Gaza.

But alas, the midnight devils who operate best under the cover of darkness, snarled and surrounded the midnight heroes of the sea. Shooting with live ammunition, descending from helicopters as if on a battlefield and using different kinds of weapons meant they were ready to raid. The Occupation had hoped that, after 4 years, the siege on Gaza would turn into a hard fact of life in the minds of people; something very hard to change.

While the world turned a blind eye to the daily suffering of over a million people, those heroes didn’t. The images of those dying from illnesses and being deprived of seeking proper medical care outside the Gaza prison was engraved in their minds and hearts and gave them the driving force to proceed with their relief mission. In Gaza, where the death toll has exceeded 300 people have turned into figures. This boy’s name was Baraa Issa, but now he is Siege victim number 359, and others follow. The heroes of the Gaza Flotilla defied the silence of the world and said No to the siege of Gaza. The Occupying Forces have gained a curse that will haunt them forever and the Albatross will remain hung around their necks.

ECESG: Freedom fleet 2 to set sail to Gaza in weeks

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Brussels, June 2, (Pal Telegraph) The  “European Campaign to End Siege on Gaza”, announced that it already obtain the funding of the first three ships of the new fleet which will go to the Gaza Strip, which will be named “fleet of Freedom 2″, related to the name of the First Fleet, who was exposed to piracy and a bloody massacre by Israel against the peace activists on board.

Dr. Arafat Madi, president of the Campaign, one of the founders of the fleet of freedom’s coalition, said in a statement:” The extensive calls are taking place to launch a new fleet to the Gaza Strip, involving many ships, will be carrying on board more aid and more peace activists than “Freedom 1” which was carrying ten thousand tons of aid and hundreds of peace activists from more than forty countries around the world.

Madi added, “following the massacre committed by Israeli forces against the peace activists on board the fleet of freedom, in regional and international territorial waters; Arab, Islamic, European and Western calls increased to form a fleet, larger than “freedom1”, in clear defiance by the liberals of the world, who rose up around the world to condemn the horrible massacr and against the Israeli arrogance.

The President of the European Campaign , the Brussels-based, confirmed that the “fleet of Freedom 2” is expected to start sailing in the coming weeks, adding that it would be larger inthe quantity and quality than “fleet of Freedom 1”, and would be formed by the will of the free world to break the Israeli unjust siege on Gaza.

Dr. Madi didn’t rule out the semi-official participation in the new fleet sailing to the Gaza Strip, especially from the Turkish side, which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will continue to provide aid and assistance to the Gaza Strip at all costs.

Referred in this regard that the fleet of “freedom” which the Israeli military forces have seized six ships of it, The fleet of “Freedom 1” consisted of six ships which are: A cargo ship funded by Kuwait raising the flag of Turkey and Kuwait, A cargo ship funded by Algeria, and a cargo ship funded by Europe from Sweden and Greece, and 3 vessels to transport passengers; one of the boats is named “boat 8000″ taking after the number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The fleet settled with carrying 750 participants from more than 60 countries, although it had received dozens of requests for participation. Meanwhile 44 governmental, parliamentary, political, European, and Arab officials will be among the participants in the fleet, including ten Algerian MEPs.

The ships of the fleet also carry more than 10 thousand tons of medical supplies, building materials, timber, 100 prefab houses to shelter tens of thousands of people who lost their homes during the Israeli war on Gaza in early 2009, it also carries 500 electric vehicles for the handicapped, especially since the recent war that left nearly 600 disabled people in Gaza.
